And The District 8 Tributes Have Been Reaped!

Man, I just can't keep up with all of these casting announcements! Here are the two District 8 Tributes that were announced sometime earlier this week!
Samuel Tan and Mackenzie Lintz have been reaped as the tributes from textile-producing District 8, according to the movie's official Facebook page. Our friends over at Down With the Capitol did a bit of sleuthing and found the Lintz Kids' website (they're an acting family!), in which Mackenzie's biography says she is new to Hollywood but screen tested for "True Grit" (impressive). Samuel is a bit more of a mystery, so stay tuned for more on him.
For those keeping track at home, this leaves just three districts tribute-less. Fans are no doubt most curious for the casting of District 2's Cato and Clove, as they figure more prominently in the Games than most.

So many roles being cast this week, it's hard to keep up! The District 9 Tributes have been unveiled: Imanol Yepez-Frias and Annie Thurman!
The week isn’t completely over until a new casting for The Hunger Games movie is unveiled.
This time, unknowns Imanol Yepez-Frias and Annie Thurmanhave been tapped as the unnamed District 9 tributes for the upcoming Lionsgate film, to be directed by Gary Ross. Yepez-Frias and Thurman join a group of relative newcomers as the studio rounds out its ensemble cast.
Unlike the rest of the districts in the Suzanne Collins novel, District 9’s specialty is unknown. During the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss and the District 9 tribute fight over some supplies.

Asheville Gearing Up For The Hunger Games

Keep your eyes and ears open for some VERY loud noises, Asheville locals! Apparently The Hunger Games (aka Artemis) has gained permission by the county for the use of explosives at the end of next month. This could be referring to the opening ceremony in the Capitol or perhaps the scene where Katniss is running away from fireballs in the arena.
Artemis is the working title of the movie. See the production company's application here. Read the commissioners resolution hereThe filmmakers want to shoot off fireworks between June 20-30 at the North Fork Reservoir.
Buncombe County commissioners on Tuesday gave their stamp of approval to a fireworks permit requested by filmmakers who are reportedly planning to shoot a major motion picture around Asheville. It's called The Hunger Games, based on the popular young adult novel of the same name. I say "reportedly" because the film company has yet to confirm any of this, despite some recent action down in South Asheville, and a series of casting calls.

Wes Bently as Seneca Crane!

Wes Bently has been cast as Seneca Crane, the Head Gamermaker in the 74th annual Hunger Games, in The Hunger Games. Accompanying this announcement is speculation regarding the possibility of Woody as Haymitch, rather than Reilly as recently reported.
Lionsgate just sent us this press release about Wes Bentley being cast as Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane in The Hunger Games movie (note that this means NY Mag's report that Woody Harrelson was offered the role of Seneca Crane may have been incorrect, lending legitimacy to the possibility of Woody playing Haymich):

The District 7 Tributes!

And the District 7 Tributes have been cast!
Yeesh, it’s been a full 24 hours since the last piece of Hunger Games casting news hit the Web. How do you cope? Why, but reading about another piece ofHunger Games casting news, of course! This time, it’s Panem’s District 7 — known for its lumber — which has found its unnamed tributes in Sam Ly and Leigha Hancock. Ly, who will play the tribute boy, has previously appeared in the direct-to-video Tremors 4: The Legend Begins and Timecop: The Berlin DecisionHunger Games will be Hancock’s first film.
Ly and Hancock join several other unknown actors in Lionsgate’s adaptation of Suzanne Collins dystopian novel. The film, directed by Gary Ross, also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Paula Malcomson, and Willow Shields.Hunger Games will hit theaters March 23, 2012. Now, Lionsgate, I know we still have to cast Districts 2, 8, 9, and 10, but how long do we have to wait to find out who plays Haymitch?

District 6 Tributes Announced!

More and more casting announcements for The Hunger Games movie!  Soo excited!  Congrats to Ashton Moio and Kara Peterson, the District 6 Tributes!

The Reaping continues: Two more tributes, the boy and girl from District 6, have been cast in Liongate's adaptation of "The Hunger Games." Following what seems to be a pattern, both District 6 parts went to relative unknowns—Ashton Moio and Kara Petersen.
Ashton's credits include stunt double work for several films like last year's "Let Me In," "Charlie Wilson's War," "The Longest Yard," and "The Ring Two." Kara has also done stunt work including 2007's "Bring It On: In It to Win It," and she'll appear in this summer's highly-anticipated "Super 8."
Ashton and Kara join previously cast tributes Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi (District 11),Leven Rambin and Jack Quaid (District 1), Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott (District 3), Ethan Jamieson and Tara Macken (District 4), Jackie Emerson and Chris Mark (District 5), and, of course, District 12 tributes Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.
While it's hard to get super-excited about casting minor characters, it just means we're one step closer to seeing "The Hunger Games" unfold on the big screen. And that's something I can't complain about. Plus, I'm guessing Ashton and Kara's previous stunt work will serve them well fighting it out in the Arena. Even if we already know their fate...
