Asheville Gearing Up For The Hunger Games

Keep your eyes and ears open for some VERY loud noises, Asheville locals! Apparently The Hunger Games (aka Artemis) has gained permission by the county for the use of explosives at the end of next month. This could be referring to the opening ceremony in the Capitol or perhaps the scene where Katniss is running away from fireballs in the arena.
Artemis is the working title of the movie. See the production company's application here. Read the commissioners resolution hereThe filmmakers want to shoot off fireworks between June 20-30 at the North Fork Reservoir.
Buncombe County commissioners on Tuesday gave their stamp of approval to a fireworks permit requested by filmmakers who are reportedly planning to shoot a major motion picture around Asheville. It's called The Hunger Games, based on the popular young adult novel of the same name. I say "reportedly" because the film company has yet to confirm any of this, despite some recent action down in South Asheville, and a series of casting calls.
